If this season you want to venture into a new experience, you like sports and the beach, then this note is for you. We have prepared a series of questions and answers that will solve all the doubts that concern a beginner who wants to take on a new challenge in the water.

  1. What is kitesurfing?

It is an aquatic sport of sliding on the water in which the wind propels us a traction kite attached to your body by means of a harness allowing you to navigate with the board on the surface of the water. Connected with 100% pure adrenaline.

  1. Do I need to have previous experience in any water sports? For example surfing.

You do not need previous experience, what is important is knowing how to swim and being eager to try something new.

Every novice is welcome in this new challenge, I assure you that between 70% – 80% of our clients who come to the school start from scratch, the remaining percentage are those who learned the previous year and joined the club of kite addicts hehe.

  1. Do I have to be in good physical condition to start?

No. As mentioned above it is important to know how to swim to venture out.

Children from 8 years old to older adults have passed in our school, each one has fully enjoyed the discipline. Of course, we adapt to our students in the way of teaching and doing the exercises.

On the other hand, kitesurfing with a properly adjusted harness and boom (bar used by the kiter to control the kite) will not take its toll on your body. In this discipline you will do aerobic work that will help you tone your limbs and trunk, as well as increase your coordination and body balance.

  1. Is it necessary to take kitesurfing lessons to start this adventure?

Yes, the introductory course is important. Although there is a whole theoretical part that you can learn from home -by reading our articles, watching our videos, for example- there is the practical part that must undoubtedly be initiated and accompanied by an instructor. Who will also teach you all the techniques of how to handle the kite, will guide you to understand the direction of the wind, among other crucial elements so that you feel confident to control the kite.

  1. How to choose a good school?

Here we have to get serious guys. There are 4 infallible things that you must consider before guiding yourself by the prices; First of all, look for a club that is certified, second that has qualified instructors with experience in the area, third, that offers civil liability insurance and finally, that provides the appropriate material and equipment to develop the discipline.

  1. Is it difficult to learn kitesurfing?

We have mentioned that there is a theoretical and practical part that will allow you to connect with kitesurfing. Therefore, you will learn progressively. It is important to consider that you must use good quality material and work with an instructor who knows how to convey the appropriate concepts in each phase.

And well guys, as in all things… practice makes perfect.

  1. How many classes will I need before I get in the water alone?

Each person has a different learning pace, so it is not possible to determine an exact number of hours or exact classes for learning. However, after 8 to 10 hours of kite flying you will feel much more comfortable and once you are clear about certain exercises you will be able to practice autonomously.

  1. I use contact lenses / glasses, would you recommend this discipline?

If you already know how to swim with or without them, no problem. The market today is very varied and there are all kinds of goggles and prescription glasses to use in the water, with polarized lenses and adjustable back straps, what more can you ask for? There are no excuses to venture out with kitesurfing.

  1. Give me that last piece of advice that would totally convince me.

We are sure that after trying your first kitesurfing experience you will be addicted to the sensation. The kitesurfing community is unique, all users are supportive and for this reason, you will not only learn a new sport, but you will make long friendships with like-minded people!

Kitesurfing as a sport can transform your lifestyle, this will depend on you, but imagine yourself on a beach, waiting for the wind with colleagues who share your same enthusiasm for entering the sea to practice sport.
